AI companies are growing faster than any previous cohort, with top ones reaching $30M ARR in 18 months—three times quicker than the 2018 SaaS class. Growth so far is largely net new spend rather than cannibalizing existing budgets.
Compute theft is the new fraud vector, with free trial abuse up 4x in six months. One large AI customer has 250,000 fraudulent free trials blocked weekly. Fraud has moved up-funnel to multi-account abuse and non-payment, becoming a full-lifecycle issue. "Free compute is kind of the new CAC." Pricing is iterating rapidly from seat-based to usage, outcome, and hybrid models.
